I am a licensed clinical psychologist dedicated to working with adults who want to live more genuine, satisfying lives. My practice focuses on helping people recover from distressing feelings & challenging events, live authentically, and remove barriers to meaningful connection with others. Real healing and lasting change happen in the context of a safe, warm relationship, and my approach to therapy builds that space for us to journey together towards the fulfilling life you want.
What I Bring
- I don’t enter the therapeutic relationship with all the answers or my own agenda. What I bring is a willingness to connect with you in a genuine way and to partner with you through your challenges.
- I offer respect and a deep appreciation for your perspective, your strengths, and for your courage to seek a more satisfying life.
- I will be warm and open and create a safe space for you to face difficult issues.
- I will bring humor, when appropriate, to our work. Even in our most painful moments, humor can provide perspective, a sense of hope, and can help us feel more connected.
- I offer the skills and experience to help us find the way together to the authentic, fulfilling life you want.
How I Work
I provide therapy designed to meet the unique needs of each individual. There is no single lens through which to view all people, no “one size fits all” approach to therapy that meets every person’s needs. My experience, education, and training have provided me with a variety of tools in my therapeutic toolbox, none of which work for everyone in every situation. Together we will discover what works for you. The following perspectives, approaches, and skills are some of the “tools” I may use as they fit your needs:
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
- Attachment-based Psychotherapy
- Coherence Therapy
- Contemporary Psychodynamic Psychotherapy
- Emotion Focused Therapy
- EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)
- Internal Family Systems Therapy
- Mindfulness
- Person-centered Psychotherapy
- Sensorimotor Psychotherapy
Experience & Education
My experience includes over three decades of teaching and providing mental health services to adolescents, adults, and seniors in public schools, colleges, inpatient & outpatient psychiatric facilities, community mental health centers, university counseling centers, and in private practice. I have a master’s degree in education from Towson University, a master’s degree in social work from the University of Washington, and a doctoral degree in clinical psychology from The George Washington University.
